Passing of Retired General Eva Burrows of The Salvation Army
| March 2015
General Eva Burrows was a special friend of Salvos Stores as so many other people and areas of The Salvation Army have claimed. That is simply because General Eva has the most engaging way of making everyone she spoke with fell that she was personally interested in them, no matter who they were. At our inaugural Territorial Store Managers Conference a few years ago she and I conducted a "Michael Parkinson" style interview where she shared her life's commitment to God and The Salvation Army. She won all of our hearts that evening and has been a friend of Salvos Stores ever since. Two years ago we introduced a special challenge for Extraordinary Customer Service, with all our stores competing for this prestigious award. We were thrilled when General Eva and Salvation Army Leadership agreed to us calling this award "The General Eva Burrows Medal", when it is awarded again later this year it will take on a special meaning to us. It is customary to end such a tribute with "May she rest in peace" but we know that will not be true, no doubt she is already serving God in a higher place. Our thoughts and prayers are with her Family at this time.
