Pre owned, good condition, antique 1859 hardback book showing characteristics with Victorian era clothbound books of the time.
The book is considered a pioneer in early feminist literature and essay collections rather than demanding radical political changes, Craik focused heavily on self reliance, practical advice, and moral integrity for women navigating strict Victorian social structures. Major topics include, independence and social rules.
Note there is noticeable fraying and shelf wear along the bottom edge of the cloth boards. Within, no real foxing but interior binding it’s becoming loose. In addition, note owners name inked on inside front page.
