Vintage Atago hand spectroscope manufactured in Japan by Atago Optical Works Co. Ltd., Tokyo, serial number 18587.
Precision handheld optical instrument designed for viewing and analysing the spectrum of visible light. Presented in its original fitted black case with velvet interior and silica gel pouch.
The spectroscope shows age-related surface wear, marks and some discolouration to the metal body. Case also shows wear consistent with age. An interesting vintage scientific, laboratory or educational instrument and collectible optical piece.
