A vintage Spanish Porrón. This traditional glass wine pitcher was used primarily for communal drinking.
Key Features:
- Design: It features a wide bottom for resting on a table, a long narrow neck for holding, and a distinct, elongated, conical side spout.
- Materials: The Porrón consists of an amber glass body wrapped in decorated, embossed brown leather. It includes wooden stoppers for both opening tips, connected by a decorative metal chain.
- Origin: These were popular souvenirs brought back from Spain (particularly Catalonia and Mallorca) during the 1970s and 1980s.
Traditional Usage: The porrón is designed to pour wine directly into a person's mouth from a height without the spout ever touching their lips. This allows a group of people to share the same bottle sanitarily without using separate glasses.
