Preowned, and from best available research, this original World War II felt constructed shoulder flash from the 12th Battalion of the Devonshire Regimentis highly sought after by military collectors, particularly due to the 12th Battalion’s role as a glider bo infantry unit within the 6th Airborne Division during D-Day and the Rhine crossings.
The design is a rectangular three colour horizontal configuration featuring a central black strip, a purple lower stripe, and a distinctive claret will felt border.
The reverse side of the patch shows strong indicators of being an authentic period correct World War II artefact due to the hessian backing which was highly characteristic of genuine 1940s British tailored insignia and the period correct stitching. Straight loose white threads visible indicate this patch was genuinely stitched onto a uniform battle dress blouse later removed by a collector or the veteran themselves.
