Salvos Stores Covid-19 Update

23/10/2020

25 March, 2020

Dear Salvos Stores Community,

Following the announcement by the National Cabinet of additional safety measures to support the management of Covid-19 spread, we wanted to reach out to you and provide you with an update.

All our stores are open, operating and will continue to serve their local communities and accept donations through their doors.

We are continuing to review our operations to ensure we can be flexible to support our teams. Therefore, we are:

We will keep you updated as things change.

We continue to support our teams throughout this time, providing them with regular updates and have advised our wonderful volunteers that while their support is valuable, it is ok if they no longer want to come in.
By remaining open, we are able to keep our paid team members engaged and provide hope where it's needed most when it's needed most.

We are also there for you, our wonderful community, now and into the future. Whether that be in-store (whilst ensuring we practice social distancing measures and following WHO guidelines), over the phone, via email or social media. So, please reach out and connect if you need.

We look forward to connecting with you again, in whatever way you are comfortable soon.

Blessings,

Matt Davis,

Dear Customers,

We thought it timely to connect with you around measures we are taking at Salvos Stores to reduce the impact on our community of customers, donors and team members in light of the ever-evolving Covid-19 outbreak.

We have been closely monitoring the advice of the World Health Organisation, Australia's Chief Medical Officer and our Federal and State Governments to ensure we have the most up-to-date information for our teams, and so that we can apply a best practice approach, where possible.

Throughout this time, we have been in regular contact with our team members providing them with updates and reminding them of hygiene practices that they must follow to ensure their safety and wellbeing, as well as that of our customers. We have also asked that any team member who feels unwell stay home from work.

All our stores are open, operating and will continue to serve their local communities and accept donations through their doors.

We understand that you may have some questions around buying second-hand goods and we want to answer these for you. We know that Covid-19 can survive on surfaces for varying lengths of time (generally no longer than several days), so we recommend taking proper precautions before using your goods to mitigate the risk to you and your family.

With this in mind, we recommend customers do the following before using any purchased items:

If you are feeling unwell, please take the time to rest up and ensure you are feeling better before coming back to shop with us.

This is definitely a challenging time, but we know that Australian's can support each other and our communities. If you or anyone you know is having a difficult time, we encourage you to reach out to The Salvation Army

We encourage anyone with concerns to call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 or check-in with the Department of Health for updates and information.

We look forward to welcoming you in our stores over the coming days and weeks.

Blessings,

Matt Davis,

National Director Salvos Stores
