This vintage sterling silver brooch features three beautifully curved, iridescent native New Zealand Pāua (Abalone) shell inlay panels set in an elegant, geometric swirling open frame. The shell segments shift brilliantly in the light, displaying deep blues, emerald greens, purples, and earthy bronze tones.
Hallmarked with the iconic Ataahua "Butterfly" maker's mark and "STG", the brooch is circa 1950s/60s.
In excellent vintage condition, pāua shell inlays are completely intact, smooth, and free of cracks, chips, or shrinkage. The reverse side features a natural vintage silver patina, and the roll over clasp is secure.
