This unique piece of vintage Australiana, a handmade paperbark art brooch and pendant combination, dates from the late 1960s to 1980s. The charming folk-art piece features a miniature Australian landscape constructed from layered pieces of natural Melaleuca (paperbark) tree bark, dried moss and fine plant matter form a solitary tree silhouette against a textured horizon, all safely sealed under a clear, protective domed cabochon, and secured in a decorative chevron-bordered oval bezel. The front cabochon seal is secure and the internal natural materials are well preserved. The gold-tone backing shows minor tarnish and age-appropriate plating wear along the bottom edge, the pin and safety catch are fully functional.
