This is a Wayang Golek, a traditional three-dimensional wooden rod puppet originating from Java, Indonesia.
Key Characteristics: - Origins: This art form thrives primarily within the Sundanese culture of West Java. - Construction: The head and torso are intricately hand-carved from soft wood and hand-painted. The puppet is dressed in traditional textiles, often featuring elaborate batik sarongs and beaded ornamentation. - Manipulation: A central wooden rod runs up through the body to control the head rotation, while thin bamboo or wooden sticks are attached to the hands to manipulate the arms. - Cultural Use: A master puppeteer (dalang) performs historical and epic dramas, such as the Ramayana or Mahabharata, during major community events and celebrations.    This Wayang Golek puppet depicts Srikandi (also spelled Shikhandi), a prominent and revered warrior figure from the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata.
