Receive mail, presumably the parents can send messages to the leaptop for their kids and probably the child to the leapfrog email account too.

USB connection on left side of hinged screen, orange slide cover.

Learn the alphabet through 1 sound per letter and then the answer for the animal quiz.
You should still teach your kid the alphabet and later the varying sounds that the letters can make, especially when joined.
For example “O” apparently only makes the o’h sound and not the OH sound, which it does technically teach you because it says the letter O before the light O’h sound but still, O doesn’t only make the Light O’h sound it also makes OH as in “Oh No” as well as O’h as in Octopus and when joined with another O it makes 2; OO like ooo he’s in trouble and the deeper Oo like he took the ball.

Scout the dog posing as the mascot for this item is adorable and friendly with clear instructions but he cheats on the animal quiz, watch out for the animal that “Starts” with X, I got 13/26, and the stretch to make Q work as well as the U answer was a little far out.

There’s also a musical mode but I couldn’t be bothered to figure it out, all the sounds play.

On/off switch, Quiet, LOUD
Movable switch in the shape of a mouse is 1 way of selecting what you want to do,the other is the buttons at the top of the board.
